Male leaders suffering silently in the hands of their spouses

Nairobi - A new report by the Maendeleo Ya Wanaume Organisation has revealed that 11 governors are abused by their wives or mistresses.

The report further reveals that 97 MPs and 346 MCAs have been subjected to physical, emotional and economical abuse by their spouses.

While releasing the report Tuesday, the Organisation Chair, Nderitu Njoka said that the abused leaders resort to alcohol and substance abuse because of frustrations.

According to The Star, some male leaders spend 95 per cent of their salaries on upkeep of divorced wives and mistresses as well as child maintenance.

This comes hot on the heels of a feud involving the Senate Minority leader, Moses Wetang’ula who attracted public ridicule after being battered by his wife.

According to media reports, fight ensued after the Senator accused the wife of infidelity, leaving him with injuries on various parts of his body.
