Kakamega - Kakamega Senator, Bonny Khalwale has ditched his UDF party in preparation for the 2017 elections.
Khalwale, who has joined the CORD affiliate party Ford Kenya, has also announced that he will be running for the Kakamega governorship.
He won his Senate seat on a UDFticket, which was then led by the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi.
According to Citizen Digital, Khalwale will be vying against Wycliffe Oparanya.
Previously, he had been reported saying that he would join ODM after breaking ranks with his sponsor UDF, but instead chose to join Ford Kenya because his main challenger, Oparanya, is also in ODM.
