Kericho, Malindi by elections rocked by malpractices

Nairobi - Election malpractices have been reported in ongoing by elections in Kericho and Malindi where electorates are choosing their new Senator and MP respectively.
Residents of Kericho are electing their new Senator following the appointment of the former Senator Charles Keter to Cabinet.
However, KANU candidate, Paul Sang claimed that his party agents and some voters were turned away, with Standard reporting attempts to rig the election.
There were also reports that IEBC had created 100 fictitious polling stations to doctor the election results in favour of Jubilee’s candidate, Aaron Cheruiyot.

Six candidates are contesting for the seat, which is being viewed as a test for UhuRuto’s popularity in the region ahead of the 2017 general election.
In Malindi where CORD and Jubilee are in a heated race for the seat, CORD accused the Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa of working for Jubilee.
The seat, which fell vacant following the appointment of Dan Kazungu as the Cabinet Secretary for Mining in the recent reshuffle, has attracted seven candidates but narrowed down to a contest between Jubilee and Cord.
It was however an eventful morning in Malindi as the ODM communications director, Phillip Etale was arrested and his laptop for allegedly trying to hack the IEBC system.
Daily Nation also reported suspicious activities by Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu in one of the polling stations.
