Nairobi - Kenya’s Deputy President, William Ruto has finally explained why Kenyans link him to land grabbing and corruption scandals in the country.
Referring to himself as a son of a peasant farmer, Ruto blamed some individuals whom he said were not happy about his rise to power for maligning his name.
He was speaking to journalists during an interview in New York, USA.
Ruto rose from the ranks of a chicken seller at a market along Eldoret - Malaba highway, to the second most powerful position in the country.
He has been linked to various land grabbing scandals in Nairobi and Eldoret, which his critics say he acquired through dubious means.
He told journalists that every accomplishment in his life is a result of his hard work, International Business Times reported.
The Deputy President further added that his ‘enemies’ need to understand that in Kenya, every child has a chance irrespective of their background.
