Nairobi - Mary Wambui attended Wednesday’s Parliament session despite the nullification of her election as the MP for Othaya by the Court of Appeal two weeks ago.
Wambui even made a contribution on the floor of the National Assembly during the session, Daily Nation reports.
Parliaments Speaker said he had not received communication from the Court of Appeal and therefore he could not declare the seat vacant.
Peter King’ara, who petitioned Wambui’s election, accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of failing to affect the court’s ruling, saying he would sue the electoral commission.
Wambui was backed by more than 20 Nyeri MCAs allied to TNA party who vowed to support her in order to recapture the seat.
They vowed to conduct house-to-house campaigns to ensure that she goes back to Parliament.
They urged the TNA party headquarters to give her a direct party ticket and avoid party nominations in the area.
