Machakos - Machakos Senator, Johnstone Muthama, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta not to unveil Machakos City as planned by governor Alfred Mutua.
Muthama together with Matungulu MP Stephen Mule and East Africa Legislative Assembly member Peter Mathuki asked the President not to break the ground for the city on Friday, until a solution to the land dispute between the county and the Ministry of Agriculture is found, The Star reports.
Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Felix Koskei accused Mutua of planning to build Machakos City on grabbed land.
Koskei said the land belongs to the Veterinary Department.
However Mutua has reiterated that the land was given to the county by the National Land Commission, saying that it was not the county's intention to take land from the department.
