Uhuru to skip Bomet County on his Rift Valley tour

16 December 2013, 13:10

Bomet - President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto will skip Bomet County on their Rift Valley tour on Tuesday.

The last minute cancellation of the trip halted preparations at Silibwet sports ground in Bomet Central, where the president was expected to address the public, The Standard reports.

The move is seen as the power struggle between Bomet governor Isaac Ruto and Kericho senator Charles Keter.

A section of members from the ruling Jubilee alliance have been accusing Ruto of betrayal by working with the opposition, when he backed calls for a national referendum to allocate more funds to county governments.
