URP says it will block push for a referendum

Nairobi - Those pushing for a national referendum to amend the Constitution will not succeed, says the Jubilee Coalition.
According to United Republican Party (URP), an affiliate party to the Jubilee coalition, they will block the referendum by urging county assemblies to boycott the exercise should the governors and Cord succeed gathering a million signatures, reports The Standard.
URP Secretary General Fred Muteti said those calling for a referendum have to be supported by 24 counties but if they don’t then will forget about the referendum and this is one of their strategies.
