URP, TNA to face off in Gatundu South by-election
02 July 2014, 10:20
Gatundu - The United Republican Party (URP) Tuesday cleared Joyce Ngugi to vie for the Gatundu South parliamentary seat.
Joyce, the widow of the former area MP, had contested The National Alliance (TNA) party nominations held on June 23 in which Moses Kuria was declared the winner with 8,343 votes against her 6,685 votes, The Standard reports.
She complained of an irregular win by Kuria, claiming manipulation of results and bribery to the party’s Dispute Resolution Tribunal but her complains were turned down and Kuria was declared fit to fly the TNA flag in the by-election to be held on 7 August, 2014.
TNA and URP are Jubilee Coalition affiliate parties.
