Nairobi - Nairobi County Women Representative, Rachael Shebesh has ruled out an out-of-court settlement for her assault case against Nairobi governor, Evans Kidero.
According to Shebesh’s lawyer, Cecil Miller, they are ready to continue with the case and ruled out the possibility of striking an agreement within seven days as directed by High Court Judge, Isaac Lenaola, Daily Nation reports.
If the negotiations fail, Kidero will be charged with assault after he allegedly slapped Shebesh, who will also be charged with creating disturbance at City Hall.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Keriako Tobiko, ordered the charges against the two in a letter that was addressed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss, Ndegwa Muhoro.
It is alleged that Kidero slapped Shebesh on September 6, 2013, when she joined Nairobi City Council workers who were striking in storming Kidero’s office at City Hall.
Kidero later apologized to Shebesh following the incident.
