Senators want county workers trained

Nairobi - Senators have urged the National Government to establish an institution that will equip young personnel with the necessary skills to efficiently run counties.
Lawmakers said the lack of such training institutions was to the detriment of counties, some which were not effectively governed.
“It is important for such an institution to be established as a matter of urgency, many counties are greatly incapacitated and unable to offer competitive services,” said Busia Senator, Amos Wako, as he moved a motion that sought to establish the special institution.
The call comes at a time the government mooted to implement a campaign manifesto centred on devolution.
Wako said to demonstrate its commitment to the process of devolution, the government must provide the necessary assistance to ensure that the counties are governed effectively.
