Nairobi - The Senate will reconvene for a special sitting to determine the fate of Kericho Governor Paul Chepkwony Friday.
They will cut off their ongoing recess to meet and decide on the fate of Chepkwony, who was last week impeached by the Kericho County Assembly.
According to Speaker Ekwe Ethuro, the sittings will kick off at 2PM in the afternoon where there will be the reading of the impeachment notice as received by the Kericho County Assembly.
" The sittings will kick off at 2.30 PM where we will confirm receipt of the impeachment notice by the Kericho County Assembly, he said.
Chepkwony has not gone to court to contest the move by the MCAs to impeach him, saying he believes that the Senate will give him a fair hearing.
" I expect a fair hearing and that is why I am not going to court, he said.
Chepkwony has been accused of flouting procurement procedures and abuse of office by a section of MCAs.
32 MCAs voted to have him impeached, with 15 abstaining totally from the vote in protest.
