Senate: Govt should inherit Council debts
15 May 2013, 18:03
Nairobi - The Senate passed a motion to have the National Government inherit debts incurred by former County Councils, The Standard reports.
According to the Senators, the debts and loans were the chief burden of local authorities before County Governments came to place.
Siaya Senator James Orengo said that the financial burden that barred 131 local authority bodies from settling their wage bill would cripple development if left to Counties.
