Ruto's strategy to counter CORD
19 August 2013, 08:47
Nairobi - The calls by governors and the Senate for a referendum that would amend the Constitution has Deputy President William Ruto busy, as he is set to meet Jubilee legislators and rally them against the move.
The Standard reports that Ruto will meet Jubilee’s Parliamentary Group and try to woo Jubilee Alliance MPs and senators to totally reject the push to give more powers and money to the counties and strengthen the Senate.
Jubilee is also considering to hold nationwide rallies in Jubilee strongholds and selected areas that voted for CORD in the March 4 elections to convince voters that the Government is committed to devolution, in a move to counter claims by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his CORD allies that Jubilee is plotting to kill devolution.
