Nairobi - The Standard reports a request by Deputy President William Ruto at the ICC has been opposed by lawyers representing victims of post-election violence.
Ruto had submitted a request to the International Criminal Court (ICC) Judges requesting to be tried in absentia.
According to the Common Legal Representative of Victims, Wilfred Nderitu, an accused’s presence in court during trial was a matter of legal duty enshrined in the Rome Statute.
