Ruto denies collaborating with Raila in referendum push

04 September 2013, 15:37

Nairobi - Bomet governor Isaac Ruto has rubbished claims that he was collaborating with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to undermine the Jubilee government.

Ruto has been criticized for working with the opposition especially in his push for a national referendum over devolution, but he refuted the accusations saying that he together with the Cord leader want to see full implementation of devolution and are not in a fight with the Jubilee government, Daily Nation reports.

He revealed that he will not defend his seat in the coming election and he does not intend to become deputy president to any of the candidates who may want to unite with him to vie for presidency as claimed by his critics.

Ruto pointed out that President Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto should know that there is a concern among people over government's commitment to devolution since some State officials were out to act against it.
