Nairobi - The arrest warrant against lawyer Kethi Kilonzo has been lifted by a Nairobi Court following an urgent application.
Kethi had been ordered arrested by the Magistrate's court Monday after she failed to appear there for the mention of a criminal case against her.
She argued Tuesday that she was not at fault for failing to appear in court after a High court ruling the same day stopped the hearing of the case in which she is accused of stealing a voters slip.
Magistrate Hannah Ndung'u however said that she was forced to order her arrested despite the High Court ruling simply because Kethi should have availed herself for the hearing.
The lawyer agreed with the assessment and went on to apologize, leading the magistrate to withdraw the warrant.
" My lady, I was not fully furnished with the details of the proceeding case thus I did not act accordingly, she said.
Kethi is accused of stealing a voters slip belonging to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commision IEBC.
She is also accused of falsely claiming to be a registered voter despite not being one.
