Reject those who illegally got party tickets

30 January 2013, 12:42

Nairobi - The Standard reports the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been urged to reject party nominees who got the tickets illegally.

According to the Institute for Education in Democracy (IED), which is part of the Elections Observation Group, the IEBC should scrutinise the list of nominees and weed out names presented after the deadline.

IED chairperson Jane Ogot said IEBC should make it clear to political parties that it will not accept any party list for the purpose of elections through proportional representation, which does not strictly meet the requirements of the Constitution.
