The Hague - Deputy President, William Ruto’s lawyer, Karim Khan, on Monday claimed that former US ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger, tried to get people to testify against Ruto at The Hague.
Khan also claimed that USAid, an American humanitarian organization, had a hand in recruiting witnesses to testify against his client in his case at the International Criminal Court (ICC), Daily Nation reports.
The defence also told the court that the witness had received KES 592,600 from the court’s Office of the Prosecution on two occasions through non-governmental organizations.
The witness admitted to have received the money saying that it was meant for his upkeep as a witness in the case.
