Raila criticizes AU over deferral of ICC cases

22 October 2013, 13:13

Minnesota - Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has lashed out at the African Union (AU) over its stand on the cases facing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto at The Hague.

Raila differed with the AU over the decision to have the cases suspended and resume after President Kenyatta and DP Ruto would have finished their term in office, The Star reports.

According to the former PM, the AU should not be involved in finding a solution to the cases since Kenyans took themselves to The Hague.

Amnesty International also criticized the AU’S declaration that senior government officials should not appear before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and their call for deferral of the cases.
