Kiambu - President Uhuru Kenyatta called on the opposition to work with his government for the betterment of this country instead of starting early campaigns ahead of 2017 polls.
Speaking during the burial of former Gatundu South MP Joseph Ngugi in Kiambu County on Friday, the president said there would be an election in less than five years and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) should wait until he finishes his term, Daily Nation reports.
He said Kenya is democratic and anyone has a fair chance to lead and called for peace in the country.
CORD is scheduled to hold a political rally today at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, to welcome back the coalition’s leader and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who has been on a US tour.
