Bondo - The burial of the late Professor William Robert Ochieng set the stage for a war of words between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and The National Alliance (TNA).
The prominent historian passed on late last month.
At the burial in Majimbo Constituency in Bondo County, the ODM Secretary General, Anyang Nyong’o, slammed the rival party as dictatorial.
He further stated that Kenya should be ruled in democratic manner.
“We are not in politics because we are looking for greener pastures, I have determined that the authoritarian presidential system in this country must be ridden off, unfortunately we still have some of it in the present constitution,” said Nyong’o.
Speaking at the same function, TNA Secretary General, Anyango Olo’o, who was recently appointed as the Head of the Lake Basin Development Authority, called upon the opposition to have basis for challenging the government.
“As the secretary general of The National Alliance, I find it disheartening, insincere and dishonest for the opposition party through its secretary general to come out and tell the people that the fight for the third liberation has just began in earnest,” said Olo’o.
The Jubilee government has previously cautioned the opposition not to merely oppose everything advocated for by the ruling party in an attempt to remain relevant.
