Okoa Kenya being registered as a political party

Nairobi - Wrangles in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party seem to deepen after it emerged that party leader Raila Odinga’s allies have already started the process of registering a new party.
According to records at the Registrar of Political Parties, key players in the ODM applied for the registration of Okoa Kenya Patriotic Party, three days after CORD held the Saba Saba rally at Uhuru Park in July, Daily Nation reported.
CORD leaders announced that they would push for a referendum dubbed Okoa Kenya to make some changes to the Constitution to protect devolution and entrench reforms.

Okoa Kenya committee of experts chairman Paul Mwangi and Cord secretariat head, Norman Magaya, separately confirmed the developments saying the move was aimed at protecting the name from being hijacked and registered as a political party by people who would later use it to achieve their own selfish gains.
