ODM wants government to withdraw KDF from Somalia

05 May 2014, 10:43

Nairobi - The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) now wants Kenyan soldiers withdrawn from Somalia following the terror attacks that have gripped the country by suspected Al-shabaab militants.

According to ODM, many innocent Kenyans have lost their lives since Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) were sent to Somalia to fight the militants, The Standard reports.

The party’s acting leader Anyang’ Nyong’o called on the government to come up with a plan and train Somali forces to take charge of their country and for economic development and pull out the KDF troops.

The al-shabaab militants have been carrying out attacks in retaliation for Kenya's intervention in Somalia in October 2011.

They want Kenya to withdraw its troops, but Kenya has rejected their demand.
