Nairobi - Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislators are confident the party’s upcoming elections will be credible.
The lawmakers denied claims of lack of transparency ahead of the polls scheduled for late February and early March.
Senator Otieno Kajwang' and Member of Parliament, Simba Arati, expressed their trust in the party’s Secretariat to deliver a free and fair national party election.
Arati denied influence principal, Raila Odinga, wielded undue influence over the Secretariat.
“Claims of endorsement of some people to particular positions by the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga or any other leader for that matter are unfounded,” said Arati, who is the ODM Member of the National Assembly for Dagoretti.
He added that Odinga was vying for the party leader’s position and thus he was too preoccupied with competition to have the time to endorse other people for other positions.
Kajwang' also said he did not expect any endorsements.
Meanwhile, Arati denied claims of being used as a proxy ahead of the poll.
The legislator is a first time MP and considered relatively inexperienced to vie for the party leader’s position against Odinga.
“I have not been fronted by anybody and I am not vying as a proxy,” he said.
