Nairobi - Executive Director of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretariat, Magerer Langat, has refuted claims of infiltrators from the Jubilee party ahead of its national party elections scheduled for the end of this month.
He said the party secretariat took the time to vet and assess aspirants to verify their allegiance before clearing them to run for the more than 80 positions up for contest.
“We have assessed them and qualified them to have allegiance to ODM, Ababu Namwamba included. The issue of moles within the party is a creation of some individuals. We have faith in the 80 candidates,” said Hon Langat.
There have been wrangles in the ODM party ahead of its national elections to be held by delegates on February 28 and March 1.
Langat’s statement comes in the wake of many withdrawals by aspirants claiming that there are other aspirants that were being favored by the party leader, Raila Odinga.
Among the candidates who withdrew their interest include Dalmas Otieno, who has been blamed of being disloyal to the party.
Langat has however been diplomatic in his statement of the interpretation of the party president’s appointment of Dalmas Otieno as his envoy in the South Sudan crisis talks saying that he was not aware of the move as there was no official position from the party with regard to the appointment.
