ODM demands to know number of KDF soldiers killed in Somalia

Mombasa - The government has been asked to reveal the total number of Kenyan soldiers who have been killed while fighting the Al Shabaab militants in Somalia.
According to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, the government should disclose the actual number of Kenyan soldiers who have died since October 2011, when Kenya sent its soldiers to Somalia, Daily Nation reports.
In May, Raila’s party, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) asked the government to withdraw the soldiers from Somalia following retaliatory terror attacks that gripped the country thanks to suspected Al-shabaab militants.
ODM said many innocent Kenyans had lost their lives since Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) were sent to Somalia to fight the militants and thus it was necessary that the government withdraw the forces.
The party’s acting leader Anyang’ Nyong’o called on the government to come up with a plan and train Somali forces to take charge of their country and for economic development and pull out the KDF troops.
The al-shabaab militants have been carrying out attacks in retaliation for Kenya's intervention in Somalia.
They want Kenya to withdraw its troops, but Kenya has rejected their demand.
