Narok County Assembly suspends sittings

Narok - Narok County Assembly has indefinitely suspended sitting over outstanding remuneration.
Senior officials said the move would prompt the Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC), chaired by Sarah Serem, into “quick action” and address their grievances.
“Sarah Serem has always told us that she is still doing job evaluation since June but up to now nothing has happened,” said the assembly’s speakr, Nick Kamwaro at a press briefing.
This comes at a time when Coalition for Reform and Democracy (Cord) coalition together with the governors are pushing for a national referendum that aims at increasing the revenue allocation to the counties from the current 15 percent to 45 percent.
The government has however reiterated that it is committed to ensure that the county governments thrive in a bid to achieve the Vision 2030.
Analysts argued the indefinite adjournment by the Narok County Assembly might have adverse effects to the development of the county considering the fact that the assembly deliberates, approves and implements important motions concerning the region.
