Mwakwere to face trial for hate speech

Nairobi - Environment Minister Chirau Ali Mwakwere is to face hate speech charges after the High Court dismissed his bid to stop the trial at the magistrate court.
As he made the ruling, Justice David Majanja dismissed Mwakwere's application to set the stage for the criminal prosecution of the minister, Daily Nation reports.
The Judge had on Thursday last week temporarily stopped the criminal trial of Mwakwere following complaints by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) that he engaged in hate speech during campaigns for the Matuga by-elections in 2010.
