Murungaru: Anglo-leasing ruined my life

20 November 2013, 12:41

Nairobi - Former Internal Security Minister Chris Murungaru, says his political and private life was ruined by the allegations that he was involved in the Anglo-leasing scandal.

Murungaru, who was testifying in a case in which he has sued former Governance and Ethics Permanent Secretary, John Githongo for defamation said the allegations were designed to destroy him and ruin his reputation, The Standard reports.

He says he was dropped from the Cabinet, lost the Kieni parliamentary seat and also lost the Nyeri Senatorial seat in the March 2013 polls because of the damning allegations.

The Anglo-leasing scandal involved the awarding of dubious security contracts and was revealed in 2002.
