Mudavadi aide claims Raila wanted MoU over polls row

24 April 2012, 09:29

Nairobi - According to the Daily Nation reports, the Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s office and that of his deputy, Musalia Mudavadi, were locked in a dispute over an alleged election pact similar to the infamous 2002 MoU signed by opposition Narc party leaders.

Mudavadi’s spokesman, Kibisu Kabatesi, claimed that Raila proposed to sign an agreement with Mudavadi stating that he was to serve only one term, and would pick him as his running mate.

In exchange, Odinga wanted Mudavadi to quit the presidential race, although Raila’s spokesman, Dennis Onyango, dismissed the allegations as “far-fetched and a lie”.
