Matemu to take office as graft boss
05 August 2013, 14:07
Nairobi - The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission ( EACC) shall finally have a chairperson after Mumo Matemu is sworn in by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga on Monday afternoon.
Following a Court of Appeal ruling that overturned a High Court order that barred him from assuming office, Matemu is set to return to EACC after he is sworn in at 3pm at the Supreme Court building in Nairobi, The Standard reports.
The Appellate Court noted that High Court while ruling on the suitability of Matemu to assume the office as EACC boss, usurped the powers of parliament, after his appointment by then President Kibaki, Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
