Nairobi - Legislators from the Bomet and Kericho Counties lashed at Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, for his recent attack on Deputy President, William Ruto.
The senators and Members of Parliament, led by Senator for Kericho county, Charles Keter, termed the recent remarks by Isaac Ruto that “the Deputy President is just another leader and that he is no better than any other leader” as unfortunate and in bad faith
The former was quoted as making the remarks while protesting the nomination of his competitor for the Bomet gubernatorial seat in the last elections, Julius Kones, to chair the National Water Conservation and Pipeline Corporation.
Keter said that the people and leaders of the South Rift are happy with the appointments recently made by the President and they support the President’s work.
“He (Isaac Rutto) is just one of the 47 governors in the country and should respect the Deputy President,” said Keter.
Dr Joyce Laboso, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, shared the same sentiments.
He called on the governor to exercise his mandate and concentrate on developing Bomet County and stop “sideshows.”
“We fully support the appointments made by the President and especially Dr Julius Kones’ appointment. We call upon the president to continue with the appointments and ensure that it shows the face of the Republic,” said Laboso, who is also Member of Parliament for Sotik in Bomet County.
She alleged Bomet had not called a leaders’ meeting since the last general elections.
