Lack of quoram delays Senate sitting
31 July 2013, 16:03
Nairobi - Party whips in the Upper House were cautioned by the Senate Deputy Speaker Kembi Gitura to ensure that there are enough lawmakers in the House to execute the agenda.
Gitura said it was “unfortunate” for even the whips to be among those skipping House sittings, after a quorum hitch delayed the beginning of the sitting for 20 minutes, The Standard reports
According to the Constitution and the Standing Orders of the Senate is 15 senators should be in attendance to make a quoram, yet out of the 67 senators, only 11 were in the House on Wednesday morning.
