Kidero will continue to work with government

02 June 2014, 10:43

Nairobi - Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will continue to work with the government to initiate growth despite being booed by members of his own party over his conduct.

Kidero was booed Saturday by members of the CORD coalition over his perceived closeness to the Jubilee coalition and president Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a twist, he was cheered Sunday during the Madaraka Day celebrations at the Nyayo National Stadium where he vowed to continue working hard for the sake of Nairobians.

" I will continue to work for the benefit of Nairobians as that is my mandate, he said after the Madaraka Day celebrations Sunday.

" The people of Nairobi deserve the best and as long as I see it fit to work with whoever possible to deliver, so be it, he added.

Kidero has fallen out with sections of his Orange Democratic Movement party ODM over his support for candidates not fielded by the party in elections.

He is also seen by some members as too close for comfort with president Uhuru Kenyatta, with some saying he is keen to dethrone party leader Raila Odinga.
