Kenya General Election to be observed by EU mission

Nairobi - Daily Nation reports the electoral commission has invited a European Union (EU) Mission to observe the March 4 polls in Kenya.

Led by Alojz Peterle, the EU Election Observation Mission consists of about 70 observers who will be deployed to various locations to assess the voting process and the extent to which the elections comply with international and regional standards.

The team has since its arrival met with officials from the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC), the Inspector General of the Police, the Registrar of Political Parties, political party leaders, the Elections Observation Group, heads of diplomatic missions among other stakeholders.
