Jirongo quits presidential race and joins Cord

09 January 2013, 16:21

Nairobi - The Standard reports that Lugari Mp Cyrus Jirongo has quit the race to State House and joined Cord to support Prime Minister Raila Odinga emerge as a winner in the coming polls.

Jirongo who had earlier announced that he would be in the race on a Federal Party of Kenya ticket, abandoned the race and will now be fighting for Kakamega County Senate seat with UDF's Bonny Khalwale.

His move depicts part of CORD's strategy to counter stem the UDF wave in Western province where former Raila ally Deputy Prime Mistier Musalia Mudavadi has pitched camp attempting to craft a Luhya unity vote.
