Govt won't evaluate governors
04 June 2013, 08:11
Nairobi - Daily Nation reports the national government will not appraise governors performance.
According to Cabinet Secretary for Devolution and Planning Anne Waiguru, the national government was aware that there was no constitutional or legal mandate that gives it powers to check on governors or the county governments.
In a statement, Waiguru said although the national government believes in the need for all public institutions to be continually assessed on their performance, its responsibility on assessment of performance is restricted to organs within it.
