Governor impeached for violating the constitution

Murang'a - Members of the Murang’a County Assembly impeached their Governor, Mwangi wa Iria Wednesday on grounds of gross violation of the constitution and abuse of office.
A total of 34 MCAs out of 49 voted for Wa Iria’s removal in a motion tabled by nominated Mary Waithera last week.
The Governor is alleged to have engaged in misappropriation of county resources, overspending and reckless borrowing thus plunging the County into a debt of KES 2.5 billion.

This is the fifth county boss to face impeachment since devolution.
According to Daily Nation, his fate is now in the hands of Senate.
