Nairobi - Embu governor, Martin Wambora, became the first governor to be impeached after Senate voted in support of the motion to his impeachment on Friday.
The Special Senate Committee found Wambora guilty of three of the five allegations leveled against him by members on Embu County Assembly, The Standard reports.
It was confirmed that he had violated the procurement and disposal act 2005, the public finance management act2012 and the constitution.
His position will now be taken by her deputy, Dorothy Nditi, who will hold the post for the remaining term as stated in the constitution.
She therefore becomes the first woman governor in Kenya.
