EAC leaders allegedly hatching plot to assassinate Raila

Nairobi - Raila Odinga’s elder brother, Oburu Oginga has exuded fear that there is a plot to assassinate the former premier by East African leaders.
Oburu, who is a nominated member of parliament, said the assassination plot was hatched in Nairobi in a bid to gag the opposition, and is expected to be carried out once Raila returns from his US trip.
According to The Star, the allegations come only a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta’s meeting with presidents Paul Kagame (Rwanda), Salva Kiir (S Sudan) and Yoweri Museveni (Uganda) over Northern Corridor Integration Projects linking the four East African countries.
Oburu's claims have sparked a lot of controversy, with the State House Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu dismissing them as ‘cheap talk’ that ‘has to come to an end’.
However, key ODM members have called for more security for the CORD Principal saying that previous political assassinations in the country started with similar allegations.
