Court stops senate decision to impeach Wambora

Nairobi - Beleaguered Embu governor Martin Wambora will not be thrown out of office until a case in which his impeachment has been contested is heard.
The High Court in Nairobi suspended the impending swearing in of Dorothy Nditi, Wambora's deputy as Governor until the case is heard.
The case was raised by a group of Embu residents who are against Wambora's removal from office.
Judge Richard Mwongo said that the case was too important in the matter as whole to be brushed aside and thus said that there would be a lull in proceedings.
The group of Embu residents insist that Wambora was impeached without their input which is a requirement in the constitution.
Wambora was impeached by majority vote Tuesday at the Senate after members of his county assembly voted to have him removed on grounds of graft and misuse of office.
