Cord legislators urge Kenyatta to cooperate with ICC

Nairobi - Two legislators allied to the CORD coalition, Chris Obure and Manson Nyamweya, have urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to attend his ICC trial, saying that AU’s request to have the trial deferred is ill-advised.
The two urged the President to cooperate with The Hague-based court, The Standard reports, saying a no-show in his November 12 trial would have far-reaching impacts on the country.
They faulted the government for failing to form a local tribunal to try 2007/08 post-election violence suspects when they had the chance, and said that parliament would not support any Rome Statute pull out move.
