CORD to lead Anglo Leasing demonstrations

18 May 2014, 12:03

Nairobi - The Coalition for Reform and Democracy CORD will lead peaceful demonstrations to protest the set to be completed Anglo Leasing payments by President Uhuru Kenyatta, according to a report on the Standard.

The payments have caused furore amongst various sectors with the opposition especially reserved about the payments.

According to the report, CORD leader Johnston Muthama has said that the coalition will lead the protests to try as much as possible to cripple government functions and processes.

Muthama alleges that president Kenyatta said back in 2007 that he would not pay the stipulated KES 1.4 billion but that now he has changed his opinion whilst president.

Members of the civil society are also said to be plotting similar action against the payments which the president said should be made immediately.
