CORD retracts Ole Lenku censure motion

Nairobi - The Coalition for Reform and Democracy CORD has withdrawn the censure motion against Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku.
The coalition had insisted that it will follow through with the censure motion against Ole Lenku for the state of the country's security which has seen hundreds of Kenyans killed either by terrorist attacks or rising levels of insecurity.
They had pushed through with the motion following president Uhuru Kenyatta's public backing of Ole Lenku despite the upheaval.
In a press conference in Nairobi Wednesday though, Minority leader in the Senate Moses Wetang'ula said that the coalition sees Ole Lenku as a small fish in dealing with the current issues in the country and thus will not pull through with the motion.
" We view Ole Lenku as a small fish in a big pond. We have realized that removing him from office will not solve issues that the normal mwananchi has and that is what we are fighting for, he said.
He insisted that only through dialogue will the current impasse in leadership be taken care of.
" Through dialogue we will solve the issues at hand. Unless we have it, the current problems will persist, he added.
Calls for Ole Lenku's dismissal have been widespread in recent weeks, with leaders from across the board asking for his removal by the president to no avail.
