CORD nationwide rallies kick off

14 June 2014, 09:29

Migori- CORD’s nationwide rallies kicked off Friday in Migori, ahead of the ‘Saba Saba rally’ on July 7.

This comes a few days after the government called off its July national rebirth conference citing politicisation by the opposition.

Cord’s Saba Saba rally has received support from various quarters, with several political leaders urging the President to heed to the call for national dialogue as a way of finding solutions to the issues bedeviling the country.

Some of the issues that the coalition wants addressed in the Saba Saba rally include the escalating insecurity in the country, tribalism, rising cost of living and corruption.

The Standard reports that CORD is also calling for government action on the disputed Migingo Island and disbandment of IEBC, saying the electoral body lost its credibility in the 2013 general election.
