CORD, Jubilee political rallies to go on as planned
28 May 2014, 08:15
Nairobi - The planned political rallies by CORD and Jubilee coalitions will now go ahead after the Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo reversed his earlier decision where he had banned all political rallies indefinitely.
According to Kimaiyo, the rallies would go on as planned provided they don’t interfere with the preparations of Madaraka Day Celebrations to be held on 1 June, 2014, adding that they should not be held next to the venue of the celebrations, Daily Nation reports.
Earlier on Kimaiyo had cancelled all political rallies citing security reasons.
However, both CORD and Jubilee had vowed to ignore the ban and carry on with the rallies as planned.
