Bill granting governors powers to fly national flags underway

Naivasha - County Assemblies may soon pass a Bill aimed at granting governors powers to fly both the national and county flags on their cars.
The 47 county bosses plan to discuss the National Flag, Emblems and Names (Amendment) Bill during their retreat in Naivasha Thursday, even as a section of MPs seek to strip them off powers to fly the national flag.
Led by Majority Leader, Aden Duale, the MPs have been pushing for a Bill that seeks to reserve the right to fly flags to the President and his Deputy, Speakers of National Assembly and Senate as well as Chief Justice.
If passed into law, Daily Nation reports, the new Bill will also see governors acquire the title ‘His Excellency’, which has been a bone of contention between MPs and governors since devolution.
