70 MPs, 24 governors facing petition axe

Nairobi - A number of MPs and Governors are facing the axe as several election petitions challenging their victories in the March 4 General Election, as they await judgement and conclusions of their cases in 30 days.
According to The Standard, the Judiciary announced on Friday that 87 petitions are set to be concluded by the end of this month, whilst Parliament is on recess until September 17, thus there is a high probability that a good number of the 70 MPs facing court may not return to the August house.
Meanwhile there are 24 petitions challenging the election of Governors pending in courts, with fears looming over the High Court decisions as already two MPs have lost their seats in parliament.
