Nairobi - A woman has been sentenced to death for killing her eight-year-old stepdaughter in a bid to win back the love of her estranged husband.
Elenah Nyambura is alleged to have paid Kenneth Muriithi KES 80 000 to kill eight-year-old Sheila Wanjiku at their Kariobangi home.
Nyambura’s brother, Geoffrey Njuguna helped recruit the killer, while her friend Peris Njeri showed Muriithi where Sheila resided.
According to The Star, the girl died of severe bleeding from the stab wounds she suffered on the neck.

Nyambura’s husband, Kamau, is reported to have deserted her for her former employee, Eunice Nyawira with whom they had a daughter.
Seeing that he loved his new family more, she planned to eliminate their daughter whom she claimed was the barrier between her and the husband.
The four accosted Sheila at their home and stabbed her 10 times as their house help, Teresa Mugure, watched.
The judge, while issuing the judgment, said the four were guilty of the murder and sentenced all of them to death.
